The fig, a noble fruit of nature, transforms into a delightful treat in syrup or honey. Once prepared, its flavor becomes irresistible, perfect to accompany desserts or enjoy on its own. A typical Costa Rican recipe that you must try.
Once the figs have been harvested, they should be washed thoroughly to remove the powdery coating that covers them.
After some time, they are partially peeled, leaving a bit of the skin, and cut in a cross shape.
They are slowly cooked in water for two hours until they change color, adding sugar and cinnamon to taste.
Once cooled, they are rolled in sugar to enhance their presentation and stored in a sterilized glass jar.
