Tamale Pie
Ingredients
½ kilogram of Ground beef
1 Jar of tomato and herb sauce
1 can of Green corn
1 cup of Chopped green olives
1 Large onion
5 Large garlic cloves
3 Diced tomatoes
1 teaspoon of Salt
¼ teaspoon of Black pepper
1 teaspoon of Chili
2 Bay leaves
1 Crushed or powdered clove
½ Chopped red bell peppers
1 ½ cup of Broth
½ cup of Yellow corn flour flakes
2 tablespoons of Butter
½ teaspoon of Salt
2 Lightly beaten egg
100 grams of Sliced mozzarella
Preparation
Step 1 : To prepare this delicious dish, it is important to preheat the oven to 180°C for about 15 minutes.
Step 2 : In a large skillet, start by sautéing the onion and garlic until golden.
Step 3 : Then add the meat and cook until browned.
Step 4 : Next, add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, olives, salt, bay leaves, chopped green onion, salt, and pepper.
Step 5 : Cook this mixture for 20 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent sticking.
Step 6 : Once the stewed meat is ready, pour it into a baking dish with a little oil and cover it well.
Step 7 : In a separate pot, bring the milk, corn flour, butter, and salt to medium heat.
Step 8 : Cook this mixture, stirring constantly, until it thickens, which usually takes around 10 minutes.
Step 9 : Then remove from heat and add the lightly beaten eggs, mixing everything very well.
Step 10 : Pour this mixture over the reserved stewed meat and cover with slices of mozzarella.
Step 11 : Then bake in a preheated oven at 200-210°C for 30-45 minutes or until the cheese is golden brown.
Step 12 : Once ready, this gratin can be served hot accompanied by white rice or salad.
